Professional Development

Exams, apprenticeship training and Continued Professional Development (CPD) are being looked at in depth to ensure the products being supplied to the industry is what is needed and professional development is not a re-sit of what has been previously learnt.

The Federation is not against upskilling but it must be an identified need that is relevant. The CPD scheme, no matter what for it takes, must be legal, an identified need and fall within the bounds of plumbing, gasfitting and drainlaying as defined in the Act. It must adhere to relevant sections of the act but in particular section 32 of the act. This is currently the subject of a number of complaints.
